Project Summary
BACKGROUND Some of you may be familiar with my project, Spark Payments (https://sparkpayments.github.io). For those of you that are not familiar, it is a Dash payment terminal that allows merchants to accept Dash payments denominated in their local currency, with fiat conversion through uphold.com (or you can use xpub keys). It currently supports 94 currencies and 12 languages. Spark was funded by the Dash Treasury - and it marks 1 successful proposal under my belt, for a 100% success rate. PROPOSAL This is a proposal to continue the development of Spark, which has no fee mechanism, no ads, and no cost to download. A sort of "wish list" has been delivered to me by key players in this space. These people spend Dash in physical locations nearly every day, and have a pretty good idea of what features are needed next. This list includes: 1: Password protected settings page 2: QR code scan option for inputting address or xpub key 3: Modify branding to indicate Dash 4: Basic invoice history page 5: Tip function 6: Bluetooth processing 7: CoinText/DashText integration 8: NFC plastic card wallet integration I would like to begin knocking these things out and adding this functionality into Spark as quickly as possible. This proposal will fund nearly 100 hours of development over the course of this month. I believe that I can complete items 1, 2, and 3 - and possibly begin to make progress on item 4.
Project Scope Statement
Project Purpose / Business Justification
Other solutions have proved to be unreliable and development teams unfriendly. On top of that, other companies may not specifically focused on Dash, therefore updates to other coins can cause issues for Dash users. I have heard multiple complaints from users of other solutions about connectivity issues, updates that break things, uncommunicative development teams, and bad user experience. I have also heard that Spark is a great user experience, but may be missing some needed features.
Objectives (in business terms)
The goal is to bring at least 2 new features to Spark, as well as modify it's branding to make things more clear to merchants/employees about Spark's association to Dash.
Key Deliverables
This funding cycle is to fund 100 hours of development work towards Spark. I believe that I will be able to complete the following items: 1: Password protected settings page 2: QR code scan option for inputting address or xpub key 3: Modify branding to indicate Dash I also believe I will begin to make progress on this item: 4: Basic invoice history page
Success Criteria
When 100 development hours are clocked on Spark, this project will be complete.

StakeHolders
Dash accepting merchants (including, but not limited to, those in Venezuela) Dash spending customers
Major Known Risks
Accessing cameras for QR code scanning on multiple platforms in one codebase may be difficult.
Communication Strategy
I will be keeping track of time using "Tick" time tracker (or similar method) and will submit these time cards twice per month until 100 hours of development time is met.

I need Spark POS for my 150+ Dash merchants in Colombia. We are now getting multi-location merchants with staff and using the Dash mobile wallet is no longer an adequate solution. AnyPay POS is down too frequently. QR.CR is unresponsive. I can't progress with these higher-quality merchants until I get reliable, secure POS software. Please read and consider if it aligns with your own priorities, and if so, please vote. Anyone with a dash balance can vote, 1 vote per dash.

Thanks @georgedonnelly - you're one of the many that I hope Spark can be a solution for!

I've seen and used the beta version of Spark POS. Very good. A clean design and much better than AnyPay. We need to finish this up and get it into the hands of Merchants ASAP. Voting yes with all my Dash.

I understand that things can change, but so far my proposal is looking good! So in good faith, I've begun working on it and item 1 from my list (password protected settings screen) is now finished. Please let me know if you find any bugs.

Thanks kodaxx. This enables me to continue testing and start piloting SparkPOS with some of my merchants here in Medellín Colombia.

Although this is a good initiative, I would very much like DASH-EX Ghana project to get a break. It is well researched and targets a specific population rather than a specific technology. Contrary to zwolf's remark on the DASH-EX, Spark POS does not meet their needs. Voting no this time.

I agree with dash-ex proposal, I hope it passes. Thanks for the comment :) I don't know what good voting no to my proposal does to help them pass, but of course you are free to vote however you wish with your dash!

I will vote now also regularly from now. Sorry that I haven't registered yet. Through the announcement of Arthyron it became clear to me that we as Maternodes also have a lot of responsibility to fill out. And a clear yes from me to this POS project.
